Chicago-bred psych rock band Post Animal made a stop at Asheville’s Revival on their Maybe You Have To Tour on November 6.

The band, which consists of members Javier Reyes, Jake Hirshland, Dalton Allison, Matt Williams, and Wesley Toledo began their fall tour earlier this month, and it continues through the end of the year, before the band hits the road as support for Lizzy McAlpine’s tour next summer.

While this tour comes just a year after last year’s Iron Tour (in promotion of their album of the same name), the Maybe You Have To Tour brought a (maybe too) brief but diverse setlist.

Aside from hits from Iron like “Dorien Kregg,” “What’s a Good Life,” and “Setting Sun,” included songs like “In a Paradise” from Forward Motion Godyssey, “Alabaster” from Post Animal Perform the Most Curious Water Activities, and crowed favorite “Dirtpicker” from When I Think Of You in a Castle.

The band brought an electric energy to one of Asheville’s newest venues, and they were met with equally charged enthusiasm from the sold out crowd. This marks the third North Carolina show from the band in a year (they opened for Djo‘s Asheville stop on his Back On You Tour, and performed in Carrboro’s Cat’s Crade Backroom on their Iron Tour), and one can only hope that Post Animal will continue to keep North Carolina on their future itineraries. If the enthusiasm from the crowd was any litmus test, it feels safe to say that they have cause to return.
