Australian psych-rock band Pond opened for Djo during his July 17th Summer Tour stop at Forest Hills Stadium in New York City.

The band, which is comprised of Nick Allbrook, Jay Watson, Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry, and James Ireland, finds itself on tour as Djo’s supporting act, fresh off the release of its latest studio album, Terrestrials, which dropped last month. Their 10-song set showcased highlights from the new record, including “Casuarina,” “Through the Heather,” and “Two Hands,” while also treating longtime fans to favorites like “Paint Me Silver” and “Sweep Me Off My Feet” from the band’s 2017 album, The Weather.

Between Allbrook’s magnetic stage presence that felt reminiscent of a modern Mick Jagger, an electrifying setlist, and the band’s undeniable command of contemporary psych-rock, Pond proved to be the perfect opener. On one of the hottest nights of the summer, they somehow managed to outdo the heatwave in warming up the crowd.

The band will continue to tour with Djo through the end of July, before embarking on their headlining North American tour in August.
