Snail Mail, the moniker behind indie rock artist Lindsey Erin Jordan, made a stop at the gorgeous Haw River Ballroom in Saxapahaw, North Carolina on April 20 as part of the Ricochet Tour.

After a strong opening set from Sharp Pins, the Chicago-bred support act, Snail Mail took center stage, opening with “Tractor Beam,” the lead single off her latest album, Ricochet. While Jordan is originally from the Baltimore area, she now calls North Carolina home, and she was quick to show her affection for the state. “I know it’s not really a hometown show,” she said to the crowd, “But, it feels like one, almost.”

From there, the audience was treated to a perfectly paced set that featured highlights from Ricochet, such as “My Maker,” “Butterfly,” “Nowhere,” and “Hell,” but also included a healthy dose of tracks off her preceding albums, 2018’s Lush, and 2021’s Valentine.

Between the carefully curated setlist, Jordan’s naturally effortless stage presence, and the kaleidoscopic technicolor visuals that bathed the room, the crowd gave the same energy right back, which made for a memorable night at one of North Carolina’s most charming and underrated venues.
